About

Scott W. Southard, MD is a board-certified orthopedist with more than 40 years of experience in the medical field. He attended Stanford University for his undergraduate degree and the University of Nevada School of Medicine for medical school. He completed his orthopedic residency in Phoenix and a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Shoulder and Knee Surgery at Tahoe Fracture & Orthopedic Medical Clinic in South Lake Tahoe.

Dr. Southard is passionate about addressing sports-related injuries and restoring joint function. At Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, he provides orthopedic care and treatment options to patients in Stateline and the Carson Valley.

Dr. Southard has seen orthopedic patients locally since 1990. For 24 years, he ran a private practice and provided surgical care to patients in South Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley. Prior to that, he worked for Tahoe Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic as an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Southard is dedicated to educating and developing medical professionals. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the UC Davis Medical Center and on the Department of Surgery’s Clinical Faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. He has made numerous presentations on knee and shoulder care, including injury prevention, pain and impingements, rehabilitation methods, and treatment options.
